UNHCRR is on the ground in 136 countries. Our teams deliver life-saving aid, advocate for the fundamental human rights of people forced to flee, and help those living in limbo to access health care, education and livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To protect the world\u2019s most vulnerable, UNHCRR also purchases goods and services worldwide.\u200b This might range from buying fleets of heavy-duty vehicles needed in some of the most remote corners of the world, to purchasing needles and thread for a jobs creation project in an urban city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our country offices work closely with over 1,200 funded partners, including organizations led directly by forcibly displaced and stateless people, to deliver protection and assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to our global network of suppliers, dedicated staff and partners, we can launch an emergency operation within 72 hours, and each year we provide support for millions of people who have fled conflict and persecution.<\/p>\n\n\n

Strengthening protection of persons with disabilities in forced displacement<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Several million are thought to be displaced but often remain invisible within uprooted communities. Asylum-seekers, refugees, internally displaced persons, stateless persons, and others of concern to UNHCR have diverse disabilities – they have different capacities and needs and contribute in different ways to their communities. In times of crisis, they may be at heightened risk of discrimination, exploitation and violence, and face numerous barriers to accessing humanitarian assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNHCR, in consultation with the International Disability Alliance, has developed this comprehensive Facilitator\u2019s Guide on working with persons with disabilities in forced displacement as part of our efforts to improve the protection of forcibly displaced and stateless persons with disabilities.
