In February 2024, UNHCR’s focus in Somalia included protecting internally displaced persons (IDPs) and supporting refugees. UNHCR led/co-led protection, shelter, and CCCM clusters for the IDP response, particularly in areas newly accessible after displacement due to conflict. They also worked on biometric enrollment of flood-affected households and provided assistance, ensuring accountability through biometric authentication. Biometric verification of students in Puntland was also completed to ensure efficient resource allocation.
