In May 2024, the UNHCR’s Protection and Solutions Monitoring Network (PSMN) in Somalia recorded 74,000 new internal displacements, primarily due to conflict, insecurity, and flooding. The Lower Juba region experienced the highest number of displacements, with conflict and insecurity driving 16,043 internal displacements, while the Hiraan and Lower Juba regions were most affected by flooding. The PSMN also documented significant displacement in Afmadow and Dhobley due to flash floods, affecting over 23,000 individuals.
